How to Cure Athlete’s Foot at Home

Athlete’s foot is a contagious fungal infection ocurring between your toes.
Also known as tinea pedis.
Its caused by the trichophyton fungus.
This fungus breeds in moisture.


What to avoid:
Avoid getting your feet wet -Feet that is are continuously moist are more prone to Athlete’s Foot.
Keep them as dry as possible.
Avoid consuming yeast products like bread and alcohol.
do not re-use towels, socks, shoes. Wash them after every use.
Sprinkle some baking soda in your shoes or socks to keep your feet dry
Wash your hands after touching your feet to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of your body.

Below is a list of simple household items and natural methods of getting rid of Athlete’s Foot:

Baking soda

Vinegar – Vinegar is highly acidic and kills the fungus.

Coconut oil and Turmeric paste

Black tea – contains tannic acid that has the ability to kill the fungus

Oils – Tea tree oil, mustard oil, Coconut oil as they all have anti fungal properties.

Garlic paste or crushed garlic

Curd / Yogurt – acidophilus and probiotics kills fungus.

Talc or foot powder – Fungus thrives on moisture and talc absorbs moisture.

Hair dryer – heat kills the fungus and opens pores which will make athlete’s foot treatments more effective. Use it to dry your feet after washing or bath.

Anti-dandruff shampoos – Dandruff is also caused by Fungus. Use shampoos like Head & Shoulders or Selsun Blue to clean your feet instead of soap.

Consume vitamin C – to boost your immune system so you can get over athlete’s foot faster.
Anti-Fungal Ointments or creams.
