Today I’ll be sharing a few tips to avoid sun damage.
These tips are 100% tried and tested.
However the results may vary.
Please note you can avoid sun damage totally only if you incorporate more than one method together.
In short the more sun protection, the better.

Firstly, you need to know how the sun adversely affects you.
Indian & Asian skin is more prone to sun tanning and photo ageing whereas European skin is more sensitive to sunburn and skin reddening.
The sun scatters UVA and UVB rays.

Darkening / Tanning
Photoageing – Brown spots, Dark Circles, Uneven pigmentation & Leathery skin.
Skin cancer
Eye damage including cataracts

Sun protection Ingredients to look out for – Make sure your sunblock has atleast one of these ingredients:
Titanium dioxide
Zinc oxide

Sun care Tips:
Always wear broad-Spectrum sunscreen / sunblock. Broad-Spectrum means it has UVA plus UVB protection.

Know your SPF and Use SPF measures depending on the amount of time spent under the sun. For example, SPF 30 will protect your skin for 30 mins from the sun damage.So if you’re going to be outdoors for a long time, use a higher SPF and reapply after an hour. UVA protection is measured by SPF, while UVB protection is measured by PA. Make sure to use sun block with PA +++ for higher protection.

Apply sun block at-least 15 minutes before you step put. your skin needs some time to absorb the sun protection.

Use waterproof sunscreen for swimming purposes. Water-resistant sunscreen doesn’t mean water-proof.

Use lip balms & makeup with SPF.

Apply sun block even to neglected parts of your face like your eyelids, under eyes, upper lips, etc

Use sunblock on all exposed parts like neck, back, arms, legs and feet
I’ve seen some most pretty women with discolored feet. Reason – they did not sun protection on their feet.

Use sunblock in the winters too and also in the morning till 5 pm. you may not feel the heat but the rays are still damaging your skin.

Dress up to limit UV exposure – Try to use jackets, socks, scarves, hats, sunglasses, etc.

Peels and skin care products containing Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, anti-oxidants, Retin-A, etc make your skin more sensitive to sun damage. Sunblock is a must here.

Try to avoid the harsh sun between 12-3 in the afternoon, as the intensity is strongest during this time.

The rays do penetrate through glass. so make sure to have tinted glass on your car and house windows.Or make sure to wear light sunscreen.

If you skin is already damaged with tanning, spots, discoloration and pigmentation, do not worry.
You can take care of that too by getting peels done by the dermatologist.
